Think the social web is big? When it comes to connecting Twitter, Facebook and others to the rest of the web, APIs are there to do the heavy lifting. The category continues to explode, already surpassing the number of social APIs added last year. Our directory currently lists 558 social APIs, with nearly 200 added this year.
Quandl Founder Tammer Kamel wants to create a new Wikipedia for Numeric Data. Quandl has built a sort of "universal data parser" which has thus far parsed about 2.8 million datasets without anything from any data publisher. As long as they spit out data somehow (excel, text file, blog post, xml, api, etc) the "Q-bot" can slurp it up. The result is quandl.com as sort of "search engine" for numerical data. Quandl's bot returns data in a totally standard format. The idea with Quandl is that you can find data fast, and it is ready to use.
Google and Twitch announced major service offerings in the world of game play streaming at the annual Game Developers Conference. Twitch's Stream First development approach, and Google's new Video Recording API are meant to create a collaboration between game, player, and audience.
