Google has announced an open beta release of an all-new Admob API. Google is providing the API specifically for application providers using AdMob, the company’s platform for promoting and monetizing mobile applications. The API provides data that more accurately mirrors the AdMob user interface.
While industry analysts expected this year to be the year Mobile Backend-as-a-Service (MBaaS) took off, end-of-year assessments are suggesting that there is still room for further growth in 2014. Forecasters predict a 104% annual growth in the market to reach $7.7 billion in 2017, while this week's acquisition of MBaaS vendor StackMob by PayPal has piqued more than a few businesses' curiosity. Meanwhile, analysts from Forrester and major players like Rich Mendis from AnyPresence believe the MBaaS revolution is still yet to happen for the enterprise.
Hewlett-Packard is looking to make its application testing tools more accessible than ever via implementations that are hosted in the cloud. Developers can access these tools via RESTful APIs. Kelly Emo, director of product marketing for HP Software, says that by making HP LoadRunner 12 and HP Performance Center 12 available as a cloud service, HP is making a concerted effort to introduce a broader spectrum of organizations to its application testing tools.
