The Napster iOS SDK provides a way to integrate streaming music into your iOS application. It handles playback and is used in conjunction with the Napster Developer API. The SDK plays full-length tracks for authenticated Napster subscribers and 30-second samples for everyone else. It allows you to stream music from your phone, computer and home audio devices. You may also download your music and listen offline. Napster allows you to play non-stop music ad free.
The Music Apps Hack Weekend held February 25-26 at New York City's SPiN Ping Pong Club invited developers to build music apps powered by the Spotify API. The event was organized by OMD and saw representatives from McDonalds, Mountain Dew, Doritos, State Farm and others actively engage in seeing how developers could possibly drive consumer engagement via music apps.
Appy Pie, cloud based mobile apps builder, has announced the inclusion of two new music APIs for its Do-it-Yourself mobile application platform. Integration with the SoundCloud and Beatport APIs will allow users to access their music libraries remotely without consuming mobile device memory.
In this post I'll describe how we planned, built and tested a truly real-time location-based game with Socket.io, Redis, Node.js, and what we learned along the way. Over the past few months, we've spent the majority our free time building a real-time game as a test for our location platform, Geoloqi. We call the game MapAttack! due to its map-based nature. Two teams compete to capture the most points on the gameboard. The gameboard, in this case, is the city streets of the neighborhood the players are in.
