The Android SDK for OAuth.io is a Java-based builder platform that communicates with the OAuth.io API to aid the indiscriminate implementation of OAuth integrations of any of the more than 100 providers affiliated to the API.
With an announcement of new permissions levels, Twitter is requiring apps that need access to direct messages to re-authorize their users. For mobile apps, this could mean rewriting to use OAuth for the first time. When the developer community balked at a shorter timeline, Twitter extended the deadline to June 14 June 30. Though most developers will not need to make changes to their applications, those that do will have to do so in only 27 43 days.
Twitter has gone OAuth-only and it is judgement day for the scores of Twitter apps still using basic authentication. Developers have had a few months to switch across to the new OAuth protocol (and the deadline was extended again to accommodate the World Cup), but it seems like quite a few never made the switch, or still have users running older versions of their software. A quick Twitter search reveals some frustration.
