IBM has announced that it is acquiring the digital and data assets of The Weather Company in a deal reportedly worth more than $2 billion. The acquisition will hing on IBM's ability to create value by applying Watson to The Weather Company's data to create predictive weather analytics solutions.

Now renamed, Geopulse Context aims to provide developers with the geographic and commercial context of locations to enable personalized app experiences.
