The OpenWeatherMap PHP SDK by Christian Flach allows developers to integrate the OpenWeatherMap API into their PHP applications. This SDK normalizes the data retrieved from OpenWeatherMap and removes some inconsistencies.
Popular location-based social network Foursquare quietly made the long-teased new version of its API publicly available Tuesday. The changes, embraced by its developer community, include JSON-formatted responses and OAuth-only authentication. Even though the new API is characterized as in beta, the company has also deprecated the previous version, announcing it will no longer be available by the middle of next year.
There is a restaurant near my house that I go to often, it’s hard to find and I have trouble explaining to my friends how to get there. I can’t help but wonder how much business this restaurant is losing because of its poor location. Indoor mapping company EveryScape might have the solution. It's like Google Maps street view that doesn’t stop at the front door, it goes right inside. The Everyscape API can seamlessly be integrated into a website, allowing a developer to place the company’s immersive viewer in a relevant section of their site.
MapQuest has launched another API on top of OpenStreetMap (OSM), the Wiki-like editable map of the world. The new search service provides geographic search results for any data added to OSM, such as streets or landmarks. Of note, the MapQuest API provides the service without any API Key requirements or rate limiting.
