Last weekend at the AT&T Mobile Hackathon I had a pleasure of checking out the MongoLab's MongoDB service. In short: it was a delight to work with. I fell in love with that technology. It worked exactly the way I thought--MongoDB architects got it right. After spending a good part of the day fighting my hibernate configuration in JUnit I was pleasantly surprised when I saw that Mongo keeps their documentation and design accessible with plan old object and simple REST calls to its MongoLab API.
GitHub, the very popular online hosting service for Git-based development projects, has released a second version of its API (our GitHub API Profile). Although the API is still in development, the various types of methods offered by the API provide a good base for developers to further integrate with GitHub.
ClinicalTrials.gov is a service of the U.S. National Institutes of Health. The site provides detailed information on all U.S. clinical trials currently underway. With the ClinicalTrials.gov API, the question “What recent clincial trials have examined garlic” can be answered. That’s right, garlic is a therapeutic agent under active research. This data repository contains data on trials of both pharmacueticals and dietary supplements.
