The Particle Android Cloud SDK by Particle allows interaction Cloud API interaction. Documentation includes a wrapper to work with hardware using internet connection and a library to permit the app to set up devices. With this SDK, users can get a list of a user's Particle devices, read variables from devices, and invoke functions from devices. Additionally, they can manage tokens and claim devices from a user account. In the near future, developers will be able to publish events from the mobile app. Particle is an Internet of Things service, recently offering data intelligence features.

The Justice Department's Bureau of Justice Statistics (BJS) has released an API for access to National Crime Victimization Survey (NCVS) data: NCVS API. NCVS data includes the frequency, characteristics and consequences of criminal victimization in the United States compiled on an annual basis. The API constitutes one of many steps the federal government plans to make in an attempt to open access to data.
Sony has released a Camera Remote API that allows for the creation of apps to control a camera’s functions via smart phone or tablet. The API is in beta version, and currently works with just four Sony camera models, although another four models are expected to provide compatibility as early as the end of September. Sony is only offering technical support to the Camera Developer Program in the US and Japan for the time being. Sony's approach will be closely watched by other manufacturers looking to provide new Internet of Things (IoT) connectivity via APIs.
