With the Particle Objective-C Cloud SDK by Particle, developers can interact with hardware devices and the Cloud API using an internet connection. The kit contains Cocoa Pods installation, variables & functions, and OAuth client configuration. It requires iOS 7.1+ and XCode 6.0+. The previous name of Particle used to be Spark. Along with the main Internet of Things service, the company now offers a data intelligence collaboration with Microsoft Azure.
The Web of Things working group, part of the W3C, has gathered many big players in the IoT space to standardize on semantic interoperability based on Linked Data and APIs. The goal is to describe things in a way that developers don't have to know the details or underlying communication patterns.
