Single purpose API

WorldMate, the world's largest mobile itinerary management and booking service, launched the WorldMate API this week. The e-mail parsing API extracts travel data (e.g. confirmation e-mails, key travel information, airport codes, etc.) and sends the information back to the developer's platform. Providing such information opens WorldMate's data to a new realm of applications. WorldMate has already seen adoption from developers outside the itinerary management and booking space. Early examples include expense reporting, flight status, and compliance apps. WorldMate CEO, Jean Tripier, commented: "We are overwhelmed with the immediate popularity of the API across a wide spectrum of developers."
Campaign Monitor, the email marketing software aimed at designers, recently announced a massive API update that is sure to please developers. The changes are less of an update and more of a complete redesign from the ground up. The folks down in Sydney have gone RESTful, the new version no longer supporting SOAP. The API also added realtime tracking and integrated powerful segmentation tools.
ODesk claims to be the future of work, or more recently: "Work 3.0." So it should come as no surprise that the next version of work comes with an API. If you’re not familiar with the platform, oDesk provides contractors and companies with a hourly billing system which both verifies the work done for the company, and guarantees payment to the contractor.
