Oracle today is launching an enhanced version of the service bus it uses to expose back-end applications running in the cloud or on premises to mobile applications alongside a new application development framework for building those applications.
When it comes to text messages, Twilio thinks pictures speak volumes. To that end, the cloud carrier has added MMS capabilities to and from Canadian numbers and via short code in the US, the company announced at its Twiliocon user conference today. In addition, Twilio is dropping the cost of its text messaging by 25% for US phone numbers.
After Facebook announced that apps can be deployed to Heroku, the cloud platform saw tremendous growth. It's on pace to add five times as many applications in 2011 as it had last year, likely fueled by being the only cloud service supported from within Facebook. The two companies introduced a new concept in developer relations, the "click-to-cloud" sample app.
