DropBox recently sat down with Gordon Wintrob over at getputpost.io to reveal how they built their APIs from primitive beginnings to handling over 500 billion calls a year. The Dropbox API lets you work with files, do full-text search and manage file and folder sharing.
Back in May I wrote about the race for either unified APIs or API standards to bridge the growing number of APIs in specific industries or areas. Unified APIs are created by a third party provider to bridge multiple APIs, while API standards would potentially create an industry-wide standard of how APIs should operate.
There’s no shortage of controversy when it comes to healthcare these days, but from a developer perspective, the increased usage of electronic medical records (EMR) represents a potential boon. The challenge is that a lot of those records are locked up in proprietary systems that for the most part are fairly inaccessible.
