SEOmoz, a leader in SEO software, has offered link intelligence APIs for a few years (Mozscape being the latest). Although Mozscape has garnered high adoption rates (over 10 million requests/day), customer feedback uncovered shortcomings. SEOmoz now knows that 10 requests/second and a max of 50 URLs/batch "is not able to support everyone's use case." Accordingly, SEOmoz enhanced Mozscape API capabilities and is currently in beta. Although the beta is in its early stages, throughput has increased 400%.
API management platform and enterprise software architecture specialists SOA Software have announced a new partnership with digital commerce specialists Elastic Path, aimed at supporting enterprises to improve their digital sales funnels with the help of APIs. The news comes as pre-conference workshops get underway this afternoon (San Francisco time), and signaling how key API providers are already leveraging the start of API Strategy and Conference to share industry announcements.
The API economy is only going to be as strong as the quality of the APIs that enable it. Unfortunately, not all APIs are created equal in terms of quality, which collectively tends to act like a drag on the API economy.
