Now that YouTube's Reporting API has been live for roughly half a year, YouTube has started adding new features. The latest new feature is historical data. Historical Data provides a 180 day lookback from a particular job's schedule date. Historical data is available beginning July 1, 2015.
In big news on the government data and transparency front, the premier provider of federal campaign finance information, Center for Responsive Politics (CRP), have announced they are opening for bulk download 20 years worth of data used to power their web site OpenSecrets.org. More than 200 million records are being made available of itemized contributions, campaign spending, lobbying, personal finance, and sponsored travel. CRP began tracking campaign contributions in the late 1980s. Their stats and staff are trusted and quoted by the Media as the gold standard reference.
MySpace, the social network heavyweight looking to get back some of their old momentum is making a big splash with developers this week. On one hand, they announced an innovative, open platform for real-time stream access and more. But will that be overshadowed by a complete lack of care for the community that built applications on top of Imeem, the music service MySpace acquired and quickly shuttered?
