In this installment of our mashup case study series we speak to Matt Riggott, a developer in Reykjavik, Iceland. He created his music event mashup, Ripped Records, when he lived in Scotland to help him and others discover upcoming concerts. Riggott tells us he believes that showing off this side project to his now-boss "clinched" the job offer and the move to Iceland.
Yahoo has just released a cool new embeddable media player, Yahoo WebPlayer, that supports MP3 and WMA files, as well as multiple services like YouTube and Yahoo Video. Yahoo has also launched a whole new site to attract publishers and developers and to encourage them to use the player when publishing audio and video across the Web.
Decibel launched its first API in 2011. Since the launch, Decibel has enjoyed success in becoming the fastest growing European company in the digital music sector. However, the massive growth falls short of Decibel's ultimate goal. Decibel hopes to enhance the consumer relationship with digital music and uncover the next generation in digital music services. In the end, Decibel aims "to become the industry standard for music metadata."
