Producer and Comedian Ricky Gervais (in partnership with CloudTalk), has just launched the first-ever voice conversation application for social media. Just Sayin’ is a free cloud based iPhone application that makes it possible for users to cross-post conversations to their Twitter and Facebook profiles. Users can share any combination of voice, text, photos, and video.
Online seller Amazon has a whole suite of Amazon APIs that are focused not on its books and other products, but instead on letting developers use Amazon infrastructure. These Amazon Web Services (AWS), as they're called, provide cloud-based computing and storage services like Amazon EC2 and Amazon S3. Amazon's annual contest recently opened up to the entire world. The top winner will receive $50,000 in cash and $50,000 in AWS service credits.
As part of an evolving mobile cloud services strategy Oracle envisions a world where developers will be able to shop for APIs in the equivalent of an online store. According to Suhas Uliyar, vice president of mobile strategy product management for Oracle, the initial focus of the Oracle Mobile Cloud Service platform is to allow internal IT organizations to set up their own backed-as-a-service (BaaS) capabilities to integrate mobile computing applications with a variety of backend systems running on Oracle software.
