The TimesOpen developer network last week gathered thinkers, tinkerers, and innovators involved in the emerging data deluge. This was their final conference prior to the first TimesOpen Hack Day this Saturday in Manhattan.
Developer interest in cloud-based application delivery platforms is expected to heighten over the next few weeks in the lead up to Cloud Foundry’s Platform industry event. Cloud Foundry, managed by Pivotal and used as a component of IBM's open cloud architecture, provides an open source, cloud-based platform on which developers can release their applications.
After much anticipation since its private beta release in March, Yahoo! has made Fire Eagle publicly available. Fire Eagle is an open geo-location platform that allows users to broadcast their geographic location to the Web while at the same time giving the the ability to easily control how and on which sites location data is shared (our Fire Eagle API profile).
