Czech-based eyedea Recognition has released a face detection API. It joins a list of some 38 in our API directory related to face detection. It's hard to tell how these offerings will stand out from the crowd. (By way of comparison, last October I wrote up Skybiometry.) Once the identity, gender, approximate age, and the ability to count the number of people in a room have been nailed, what else is there?
Eight APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories includings Recognition, Analytics, Wi-Fi, and Home Automation. Also new are SDKs for Mixpanel mobile analytics and Untappd, a social applicaiton for beer. Here's a summary of the new additions to the directory.
Microsoft announced a number of new API features within its Project Oxford artificial intelligence platform. The Face API was updated with facial hair and smile prediction. Other tools were officially opened up for public beta (e.g. spell check, CRIS, video editing, and more).
