Saplo is a Swedish incarnation of semantic analysis. Born out of academia, the Saplo API is built on computer science and applied mathematics. This company is effectively commercializing academic research topics. What makes Saplo stand out immediately as an API provider is its list of active customers which includes two Nordic news sites. This shows that they are serious about the business behind the Saplo API and also successful at convincing experienced media players that semantic analysis is a tool that they should employ.
Microsoft continued its expansion of its Graph API portfolio with multiple API announcements at its latest Build developer conference. Specific API announcements include updates to SharePoint, OneNote, Planner, and translator APIs. Additionally, new Insights APIs were announced.
As announced on the Flickr Blog, Flickr has launched a new website for developers: Flickr Code. And besides announcing the new site they've both a) given interesting details on just how much API traffic they do each day (see below), and b) they announced they're open sourcing Flickr Uploadr, the cross-platform (Windows and OS X) desktop tool for uploading photos to Flickr.
