If you've done much searching for locations using web tools--and who hasn't by now--you've likely discovered some errors along the way. Sometimes a map marker is down the street from the actual location. Geocoding, the process of converting an address to latitude/longitude coordinates, can be an inexact science. A new geocoding service from MapQuest (our MapQuest API profile) aims to help you improve where you place that marker with Address Point Data.
Location-based social game FourSquare no longer has limits to where it can be used. When users click on their city name below the header of the website, they see a search box to enter a new city. Previously the service supported about 100 cities worldwide and anyone who lived elsewhere was out of luck.
For the 10 year anniversary of Google Maps API, Google will hit the road with a bus that will take members of the Maps team across the country from San Francisco to Disney World.
