In Chicago today eBay will kick-off of their annual eBay Developer's Conference by announcing Project Echo, a way for outside developers to integrate their apps "directly onto the world's largest ecommerce site".
Amazon has just released an in-App purchasing API for PC and Mac Apps. Game developers should win big. This closely follows its Kindle ebook commitment to extending products across platforms. Ebooks were first available on Kindle readers, then they became readable on Macs and PCs. The roll out for in-App purchases in games was likewise first available to Kindle Fire and Android developers last April, a precursor to this announcement.
The daily deal space is hot, and has been for some time now. In the past year 23 million Americans have purchased a daily deal or group coupon according to a survey conducted for the American Institute of CPAs by Harris Interactive (source). Not to mention Freelance websites, such as Freelancer and Elance, have been flooded with thousands of "Groupon clone", "daily deal site" and related job postings - a general sign that many more businesses are still trying to get in.
