Online invoicing and time tracking service FreshBooks has a revolutionary new feature for developers using its FreshBooks API: an opportunity to make money through the company's current customer base. Through the program, developers can charge users a monthly fee, which is tacked on to what subscribers are already paying FreshBooks. The solution, another revenue stream for FreshBooks and a rare one for developers, marks a potential new approach for software-as-a-service (SaaS) companies and one FreshBooks thinks has a bright future.
Salesforce has simplified its Bulk API. A Bulk transfer job in v2 reduces the number of steps required by the user. Because Salesforce is handling batching in v2, the API user no longer has to break data into batches for upload. Salesforce also introduced new features and simplified limits.
One the one hand Big Data is supposed to be one of the best things to happen to IT since the invention of the database. After all, managing massive amounts of data should make IT more relevant than ever. But as Big Data continues to evolve it’s starting to look like managing all that data is beyond the scope of many IT organizations. As a result line of businesses are turning to raft of emerging Big Data services in the cloud that allow them to analyze massive amounts of data by invoking a relatively simple API.
