The Strava Objective-C SDK by Sebastien Windal is a read-only project that allows to access fitness features. Not officially supported by Strava, this project was originally created for SpinSpin, an indoor cycling app. However, it supports most of Strava API endpoints.
Chris Sheldrick, CEO of the London-based company what3words, has taken a novel approach to the task of navigation with a new API. Sheldrick’s idea stems from the logistical difficulties he encountered while working internationally in the music business. During that period in his career, Sheldrick was faced with coordinating the rendezvous of dozens of people in remote locations. Despite his best efforts at communication, people would still find themselves calling one another on the day of a meeting, seeking clarification on the location of the meeting place.
Last week, online mapping platform Mapbox announced the launch of Smart Directions, a premium addition to its core offering which allows organizations and developers to incorporate maps into their applications. With Smart Directions, companies and developers are given the ability to create custom routing profiles which enable them to describe how users should be taken from their starting points to their destinations.
