The Tableau Connector SDK allows you to add a new connector, to visualize your data from any database. It is a Python test harness to build and customize a Tableau Connector that uses an ODBC or JDBC driver. The Connector is a set of files that describes UI elements needed to collect user input for creating a connection to a data source, and any dialect or customizations needed for the connection. This includes; a connection string builder, a driver resolver, creating extracts, data sources and more. Tableau Software provides support to visualize and understand data.

Basically, we wanted to answer the question “I have a spreadsheet. I want to share it with people and create a map/bar chart/storyline/other visualization.” Google Spreadsheets, while powerful, couldn’t handle the 100 meg upload we allow for Fusion Tables. And, being Google, we also provided something for developers.
