Thirteen APIs have been added to the ProgrammableWeb directory in categories including Transportation, Open Data, and Music. Highlights include an API for fleet GPS services and an API for querying data about requests to The Freedom Of Information Act. Here's a rundown of the latest additions.
Shoutcast maintains a radio directory of 50,000+ radio stations from all around the world. The company, owned by AOL, released its first Shoutcast API a few years ago, but has since released version 2.0. The updated API provides developers with more advanced options for integrating music streaming services into web services and mobile applications using RESTful calls formatted in XML, JSON and RSS.
MySpace, the social network heavyweight looking to get back some of their old momentum is making a big splash with developers this week. On one hand, they announced an innovative, open platform for real-time stream access and more.
