The Twitch SDK provides developers with a C API that can be used to add live streaming to games. The SDK can be initialized with a Client ID and uses OAuth 2 authentication. Functionality exposed includes video encoding, audio capture, mixing and encoding and streaming to Twitch servers. Developers can also enable gameplay broadcasting, chat, webcam support and more.
Recent reports indicate that Twitter will make significant announcements next week regarding its live streaming API. The company is expected to open the API to a select group of media companies. The move would allow such companies to directly stream live video to the Twitter platform.
GitHub Unity 1.0, GitHub's editor extension for Unity, is now available for download. GitHub originally announced an alpha version of the project in March 2017, and a beta version earlier in 2018. Now, just in time for the annual Unity dev conference, GitHub has made the editor extension ready.
