Group event community site Meetup is looking for someone to join its team and the role is API-specific. The API Engineer is not the one who makes the company's Meetup API work. Rather, the job is responsible for spreading Meetup to "every mobile device and hyperlocal web site." That's quite the task. So, what are the requirements of an API Engineer?
Civic APIs are in the spotlight across the two days of API Strategy and Practice being held in Amsterdam. Workshops, several panel sessions, keynote speakers, and fireside chats are all focused directly on how cities are opening up their data and introducing APIs into the ways they work with citizens and local businesses. Even discussions of the Internet of Things or realtime data are expected to reference the progress being made by cities to become smarter by using APIs.
As many jumped into making recommendations on how the U.S. government's Recovery data should be packaged and disseminated, it's worth looking into some important previous work in this area, work with which many who are new to open government might be unfamiliar.
