Glympse, a service that allows GPS-enabled mobile phone users to temporarily share their location in real-time, has announced the availability of the Glympse platform allowing developers the ability to integrate real-time, temporary location sharing into third-party web and mobile applications. Glympse has also made available SDKs for iOS and Android as well as REST based APIs for use in websites and web based applications.
A few months ago, ProgrammableWeb announced the release of Heroku’s Platform API, which allowed developers to integrate the Heroku platform with third party applications and services. Now, Heroku has launched a public beta for OAuth 2.0 support for the Platform API. OAuth 2.0 support allows developers to control service needs as opposed to offering full service access to all user accounts.
This week at the IBM Impact 2014 conference, IBM previewed a significant extension to its application development tool portfolio in the form of a new class of rapid application development tools running on top of the IBM BlueMix cloud integration service.
