The vm-launcher Python SDK by John Chilton allows developers to manage the building and deployment of cloud images through a Python interface on top of Apache Libcloud, Fabric, and Vagrant. Currently, this SDK has implemented four virtual machine providers: AWS, OpenStack, Eucalyptus, and Vagrant. These are accessed through their APIs.
Back in May I wrote about the race for either unified APIs or API standards to bridge the growing number of APIs in specific industries or areas. Unified APIs are created by a third party provider to bridge multiple APIs, while API standards would potentially create an industry-wide standard of how APIs should operate.
There is a category of vendors on the rise in the API space; Integration Platform as a Service (iPaaS). The term is fairly new and there is some debate as to the definition and features of vendors that would be classified in the iPaaS category. This post is an overview of iPaaS and features several vendors that offer iPaaS solutions.
