Facebook has launched a beta version of its Thoughts API. The API is part of a larger collaborative project between Facebook and various scientists and engineers who are focused on typing directly from thoughts. The project goal is to achieve 100 words per minute directly from the brain.
Earlier this week Microsoft announced that it is making some of the imagery used in its Virtual Earth platform available for purchase (more on Virtual Earth in our VE SDK profile). The imagery, taken with Microsoft's proprietary UltraCam shown below is available for approximately 200 cities (in high resolution and averaging less than two years old).
The Google Static Maps API (our Google Static Maps API Profile) is quite popular with developers looking for a relatively lightweight method of including Google Maps as rapidly-loading images on web sites. If you're not familiar with this API, it essentially allows you to add a custom Google Map (including markers and paths) as the source for an image element on a web page.
