YellowAPI functionality can be integrated in a mobile phone with the Yellow Pages Android SDK. This kit in particular contains an improved sample app with auto-suggestion. Additionally, it includes an added GetTypeahead definition and bug fixes on API requests. To create a project, users need to add the YellowAPI developer key to Android and the Google Maps API key to layouts/map.
At the beginning of 2011 we reported that Collect had decided to drop it's API in order to change their offering to something more profitable. But now ReadWriteWeb have reported the disappointing demise of Collecta. This has the potential of being the first big failure of a well funded real-time web focused company, so questions need to be asked about why this happened and why Collecta weren't successful. Although advertising across social networks has been deployed for quite some time, advertisers have had limited tools to track engagement. Facebook Insights is probably most commonly used to analyze social data. When users have required deeper analysis, the advertisers were forced to use highly custom integrations.
Over the past year, French startup Algolia has pivoted its business model to focus on providing search as a service by offering an easy-to-integrate API product for use by websites and online businesses. ProgrammableWeb caught up with CEO and Co-Founder Nicolas Dessaigne at the recent API World conference to discuss the service’s new seed funding, and how an API-as-product business model builds trust with end-user developers.
