Gliffy, a browser-based diagramming and flowchart tool, today announced the public availability of their new API (technical details at our Gliffy API Profile). The four year old company announced the new API on its blog, noting that Gliffy hopes to take advantage of the growing trend of companies that are unlocking their APIs to extend the reach of their applications and data.
Locu, one of CNN's hot startups to watch, has released an API that exposes Locu's database of business information to third party developers. Locu launched the Locu API at Tech Disrupt SF 2012 and drew immediate attention. The API allows developers to retrieve real-time business data (e.g. venue information, pricelists, menus, etc.) and integrate the data into existing applications. Locu's index crawls the web for business data, and the API makes that data available to other websites and applications.
There are plenty of tools for those that create and manage APIs. But when it comes to those that need to consume those APIs there are not so many. Looking to rectify that situation 3Scale, a provider of API management tools, launched a beta version of a free APItools service specifically designed to meet the needs of organizations that need to consume APIs.
