Gartner analyst Laura McLellan made a bold statement in her 2012 webinar: "By 2017, the CMO will spend more on IT than the CIO". While I think it is too bold a statement, you can’t deny the fact that an eco-system shift is happening and API Management is the catalyst. From my own personal experience, I can vouch for this shift in who is doing the big spending. A new set of tools are enabling CMOs to create new, powerful channels. They are called APIs. The very introduction of these APIs are resulting in new ways of leveraging channels and exposing content, media, and data to customers, partners, the community, developers, and even to the public.
More and more companies are devoting more and more of their advertising budgets to digital channels such as search, social, and mobile. And for good reason: In many if not most cases, you can't effectively reach your customers if you ignore the digital channels that are used on a daily basis by countless individuals.
Ducksboard, a real-time data monitoring and visualization platform, will be adding new services to the widgets directory and extending existing services in a matter of weeks. The new integrations will include LinkedIn, Flurry, Realtime Google Analytics and Trello. The company is also working on a brand new interface and are planning a closed beta the first quarter of 2014. The Ducksboard platform features the Ducksboard API which allows developers to send their own data, retrieve data stored, and manipulate all objects found in Ducksboard.
