Okay, spot the New Year's resolution that's different: lose weight, exercise, stop procrastinating, build one App every weekday using APIs. Yeah. That last one is the focus of Purchase College student Ali Fairhurst. She's created a website of her work, APIaday, pledging to build a new App 5 days a week through January.
As a public cloud service optimized for Big Data applications, GoGrid gives developers access to a number of open source platforms, including Hadoop, Apache HBase, Cassandra, MongoDB, and Riak. Trying to fuel what GoGrid CEO John Keagy describes as an open data services (ODSs) market, GoGrid provides the ability to stand up applications on multiple platforms in a way that helps developers avoid getting locked in to one particular architecture. Now GoGrid is close to taking that concept one step further by exposing an API to the GoGrid cloud platform.
This tutorial from the FINRA Technology website explains how even novice developers can create a basic REST service for evaluating whether a number is a prime or not. The service is built using automated computing service AWS Lambda, as well as AWS API Gateway and IAM for authentication.
